About me...

I have been teaching violin in the Huntsville/Madison area since 2004 and enjoy working with students of all ages (3-103!). I currently teach full time from my home studio in Madison. Prior to this, I was a faculty member of the Symphony School of the Huntsville Symphony Orchestra where I taught private and group lessons,  as well as trained and supervised new teaching faculty for the educational outreach program.  I enjoy being active in the community playing in area ensembles and performing with local church groups, in schools and at special events. I graduated from Colorado State University summa cum laude with a Bachelor of Arts in Music Therapy and a double emphasis in violin and voice. As a violin teacher, I am able to combine my training, skill and experience as a performing artist with my experience as a professional Music Therapist.  This helps me to provide a unique learning environment for my students. I am a registered Suzuki teacher which means I have trained with nationally recognized Suzuki pedagogues to learn the philosophy and methodology of the Suzuki method of Talent Education. (To find out more about the Suzuki Method click on the link to the left).  This is the approach I use with all of my students.  I believe every student has the potential to learn and develop musical skill. I strive to create a positive and nurturing learning environment while encouraging students to achieve their highest potential. My goal is to help develop skilled musicians with great personal character.
